Jack boarded the elevator and pressed the button for the floor one below the penthouse level. He stepped to the back as several others boarded. The elevator slowly made its way upward, periodically dumping its passengers, until finally it was only him, his target, and the floozies.

The man was clearly sparing no expense—penthouse suites at this casino were not cheap, nor was his arm candy.

He must have got a good bonus for killing Fang.

Jack had never met her, but understood love. And loss. It was why he avoided it at all costs. Why love someone that could leave you. Why love someone that might die before you, or, more likely in his business, would be left behind to mourn. Love wasn’t for people in this business. Look what was happening to Kane. He was a tortured soul, who would likely remain that way for the rest of his life.

A life that might be shortened because of his lack of focus.

The elevator chimed and he excused himself, one of the ladies stepping aside. He felt a hand grab his ass then some giggles. He turned to find it was Wang’s hand.

“Care to join us?”

Jack smiled. “Am I joining them, or you?”

Wang’s hand cupped Jack’s boys. “All of us.”

Jack’s smile spread. It wasn’t the plan, but if the man was inviting him into the room, who was he to say no? “I think I’d like that.”

Wang beamed. “Excellent. I think this is going to be a fabulous night, don’t you girls?”

Coos of agreement were the response, including one from Kane over the small earpiece fit snugly in his ear.

“Should I give you two time to have some fun first?”

So, you want to play it that way, huh?

“I have a friend. I think you’d like him. Can he join us?”

“Bastard,” muttered Kane.

Wang nodded. “The more the merrier, if he’s open-minded.”

Jack chuckled. “Oh, he’s the most open-minded man I know. You two are going to hit it off smashingly.”
